1. Who we are

Mia Doula ("we," "us," or "our") operates this website and the Mia Doula application, an AI-powered pregnancy tracker with a built-in AI doula. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.

2. Information we collect

  • Account information. When you register, we collect your email address and, if you use Google Sign-In, your Google profile information (name, email, profile photo). This is handled through Firebase Authentication.
  • Payment information. If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details (card number, billing address) are collected and processed directly by Stripe. We do not store your raw card details — we only store a Stripe customer ID and subscription status.
  • Uploaded images. If you upload character reference photos, those images are stored on our servers and sent to our AI provider (Google Gemini) to answer your questions. We do not use your personal data to train AI models.
  • Generated content. Comics and images you generate are stored on our servers (AWS S3) so you can access them in your library.
  • Usage data. We collect information about how you use the app — features used, pages visited, generation requests, credit consumption — to operate and improve the service.
  • Technical data. IP address, browser type, device type, operating system, and referring URLs collected automatically by our infrastructure.
  • Communications. If you contact us, we retain those communications to respond to and resolve your request.

3. How we use your information

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Mia Doula service;
  • Process payments and manage your subscription;
  • Provide week-by-week tracking, reminders, and AI doula answers;
  • Send transactional emails (subscription confirmation, billing receipts);
  • Send product updates and marketing emails, which you may opt out of at any time;
  • Monitor for abuse, fraud, and security incidents;
  • Analyse aggregate usage to improve the service.

4. AI processing of your content

When you chat with Mia, your questions and the pregnancy details you provide are sent to Google Gemini (our AI provider) to produce the output. This processing is subject to Google's API usage policies. We do not use your prompts or images to train our own models. You retain ownership of the creative content you input; see our Terms of Service for details on generated output ownership.

5. Third-party service providers

We share data with the following categories of providers to operate the service:

  • Firebase / Google (Authentication & Cloud) — manages user accounts and sign-in.
  • Stripe — processes subscription payments securely.
  • Google Gemini — AI model used to generate answers and guidance from your questions.
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services) — hosts the application backend and stores generated images and uploaded files.
  • PostHog — product analytics to understand how features are used.
  • Google Analytics / Google Ads — website analytics and advertising measurement.

Each provider processes data under their own terms and privacy policies. We recommend reviewing their policies for full detail.

6. Cookies and tracking

We use cookies and similar tracking technologies to keep you logged in, remember preferences, and collect analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect your ability to use the service.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We disclose data only: (a) to the service providers listed above; (b) when required by law or valid legal process; (c) to protect our rights, property, or the safety of users; or (d) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you.

8. Data retention

We retain your account information and generated content for as long as your account is active. Your tracked pregnancy data and chat history are kept while your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

9. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To make a request, contact us at the address below. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.

10. Children

Mia Doula is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have done so, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

11. International transfers

Our servers and service providers are primarily located in the United States. If you access the service from another country, your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States or other jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to protect your data in accordance with this policy.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we will notify you by email or through the app before the change takes effect.
